So I have been writing since I was eleven. My first story was a "non-fiction" about a fight my friends and I had. It was the true story of what happened. When I finished writing out the ten pages of it, I gave it to my friends to read. A couple things about that story.
It was not a true story. I lied like crazy in there cause I was so pissed about... I don't even remember what. I'd have to go dig up stuff from middle school to find it...
I did it to make my friends angry, I know shitty friend of me huh?
My friends found it funny, and they liked my writing.
They liked my writing so much, they told me to write another fiction story. (Which BTW made me angry cause it wasn't "fiction").
But it saved our friendship, we still talk to this day, and it started my writing career.
Flash forward, multiple multiple years into the future... and I now have children of my own. My youngest child, Cassandra, came to me and said, "Mom! I wrote my first poem, do you want to read it?"
I was thrilled! "Sure I want to read it!"
So, I share her poem with you all now.
For those of you that can't read seven-year-old handwriting. I will translate for you:

So few things about this poem:
She did not ask for help on this poem. She wrote this on her own, spelling and all (better than her mother).
She picked the topic, she told me she was writing a poem and then asked if I wanted to hear it when she was done.
This is a way better non-fiction than my first non-fiction piece...
It's not much of a poem... but hey, it's more of a poem than mine was a non-fiction!
Anyway, I am so excited to see someone so young start their writing career. I've kept her poem and will keep it safe so one day multiple multiple years in the future, she can write about her first writing piece and maybe about her child's first one too.
